What Is Colour Theory?
You can wear every colour of the rainbow.
Shade makes the difference.
Definition
Each of us has - among eyes, skin and hair - colours that characterise us. These colours can be warm or cool and bright or subdued.
The colour analysis theory helps you recognise your personal colours depending on three main features: undertone, intensity and contrast.
The undertone is the "temperature" of the skin (careful, it's wrong to assume that light skin is cold or that dark skin is warm!); Intensity indicates the brightness of one's colours; and Contrast is identified by the difference in value between elements (for example: skin with eyes or skin with hair).
How Does It Work?
The Seasonal Colour Analysis Theory is characterised by the different presence and combination of undertone (cold or warm), intensity and contrast (high or low) and based on the 4 seasons:
- Winter
cold undertone, high intensity and contrast
- Summer
cold undertone, low intensity and contrast
- Autumn
warm undertone, low intensity and contrast
- Spring
warm undertone, high intensity and contrast
